Martindale Pharma® launches Latanoprost eye drop solution
Expands portfolio of ophthalmics products with launch of generic on day of patent expiry for original brand
Brentwood, 18 January 2012: Martindale Pharma, leaders in the manufacture and supply of specialty pharmaceuticals, is pleased to announce the launch today of Latanoprost 0.005% w/v eye drop solution (2.5ml solution), a first in line treatment for Glaucoma.
Latanoprost was developed for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It is a clear colourless liquid to be administered to the eye once daily (one drop contains approximately 1.5micrograms of latanoprost). It is indicated to treat adults (including elderly).

Latanoprost was originally sold by Pfizer as Xalatan and had UK sales of around £50 million in 2011. Martindale Pharma is collaborating with Tubilux Pharma, an Italian based leading developer and manufacturer of ophthalmic medicines, to supply and commercialise Latanoprost in the UK.
